4 very good reasons to work with a copywriter.

When you’re chugging through the day-to-day of running a business, finding the mental capacity to even CONSIDER getting outside help can be tough enough. Let alone actually going out there and getting it.

But bringing in the experts is a great shortcut to making your life a hundred times easier. Not to mention a rad way to make sure you’re reaching the right people, with the right message, at the right time.

In case you need convincing, here are 4 reasons why you should hire a copywriter ASAP.

1. Copywriters are, like, really good at writing copy.

Britney Spears saying obviously

If you needed a root canal, you (hopefully) wouldn’t get out the power-drill and have a crack at it yourself. And while the consequences of trying to write for your business would be a lot less gory, the same rule should apply.

Writing messages that work, that resonate with your customers and bring in more sales, is no mean feat. And taking it on – even if Mrs. Richards said you showed real promise in 5th form English – is a pretty big ask.

2. Talking about yourself is tough.

Here in lil ol’ NZ, we’re all pretty familiar with tall poppy syndrome. That subconscious need not to stand out too much, or beat your own chest too hard – lest people think you’re a wee bit big for your gumboots.

The struggle with tall poppy syndrome is real, and it can make it really hard to write effective copy for your own business.

It can make you a little scared to sing your company’s praises too loudly, when really you should be Mariah-Carey-ing them from the rooftops.

Sometimes all you need is someone else to rock in, and rave about how amazing your business is on your behalf.

3. There’s such a thing as being a little tooooo close to your business.

You know that saying “can’t see the wood for the trees”? That’s especially true of business-owners. When you’re right in the thick of it, living it day-to-day, it’s hard to tease out what really makes you different.

Stock-taking, network-building, machinery-maintaining, staff-hiring (or firing, yikes) – it all adds up to make the bigger picture a little tricky to paint.

That’s where a copywriter can help.

It’s amazing what a fresh pair of eyes can do. Like give you a new way of looking at your customers, sum up your entire business in one simple thought, or identify a whole new revenue stream – just to name a few.

4. Seriously, who has the time?

Woman saying ain't nobody got time for that

There never seem to be enough hours in the day. Especially when you’re trying to run and grow a company, all while keeping up with some semblance of a personal life.

Delegation is next to godliness (pretty sure that’s the saying), so writing copy for your business should be one of the very first things you take off your plate.

Then you can take all that saved time, and spend it taking your company to the next level! Or just looking at memes. I won’t judge.

If you’ve worked with a copywriter before and have any other reasons you reckon I’ve missed, let me know. I’d love to hear them.

Until next time!
